And we are doing what we can to support raptor rescues and reunites.
All About Owls recently consulted on a call from Hercules where a young Barn Owl was found on the ground and taken to Wildcare’s wildlife hospital. Later, another call was received that the Barn Owl sibling was perched on a ledge of an overpass- a dangerous location for a young owl not quite ready to fly! The second owl was safely recovered and also received an exam at Wildcare where they were both a bit underweight but overall healthy. The original nesting location was determined too unsafe for the owlets to return to.
AAO stepped in to provide a hack box (a safe nesting box where young owls can grow up until they are able to be released to the wild) and volunteer support to discreetly drop off food for the owls daily as the parent owls would do. You can check out these two owls growing up on our live Novato camera at https://allaboutowls.org/live-owl-cams/
