Educational Programs
Shooting, trapping, powerlines, automobiles, barbed-wire fences or poisoning directly or indirectly through pesticides or rodenticides, habitat loss, fragmentation and other human disturbance all threaten our owl population.
Our goal is to provide you and others with the knowledge of how to help them and why they are so important to our fragile environment.
We offer programs that will give you a look into the life of an owl and how we can live side by side with them .

All About Owls offers presentations with live owls to schools, environmental organizations and for events. We teach about the natural history, identification and the amazing facts of our local owls. Our message is one of conservation and stewardship to inspire positive change through understanding the key role raptors play in our environment.
Rodent Control
Presentations with a focus on encouraging owls for a safe and natural means of rodent control are offered to vineyards, farms, ranches, and HOAs in Sonoma and Marin Counties.
Our fee, which includes a visit with one of our Ambassador owls, is $150, or for both owls, $175.

If you poison insects or rodents, there’s a chance you will poison a Raptor.
As Part of Our Mission at All About Owls to protect these magnificent creatures, we are offering you resources on alternatives to using rodenticides and insecticides.
A family of Barn Owls consume 3,000- 5,000 rodents throughout their breeding cycle. Screech and Burrowing Owls prey on both mammals and insects, and the number of insects they consume is dependent on the availability of each. It is safe to say that number is also in the thousands.
What if they were to consume a rat or bug that had been poisoned?

Would you consider becoming one of our volunteers?
We are looking for owl handlers and presenters.
To qualify you will need to meet these requirements:
- A friendly personality.
- Be reliable with a flexible schedule.
- Possess good communication skills with the ability to speak with a wide variety of people. Our presentations range from preschools to senior homes!
- Have an interest in native wildlife, owls, education, conservation, and the dangers of rodenticides.
- 18+ years old with reliable transportation.

Did you know that Barn Owls prefer to swallow their prey whole? Once they have digested what they can, the remains, mostly skin and bones, are processed by their gizzard into "pellets".
They then cough these pellets up and the female uses her pellets to lay the flooring of their nests.
