A lot of specialized care goes into managing our two ambassador owls: Buho the Western Screech-owl, and Gazeau the Great Horned Owl. A few times a year the owls need to have their beaks coped and their talons trimmed. Since both of our owls were injured in the wild, they do not move around as much as wild owls, which means they need a little extra help keeping their talons and beak from being overgrown.
Here are a few pictures of Buho and Gazeau’s most recent “spa day”. This is also a great time to give them a check-up to be sure they are healthy and doing well!
